Wakefield Eye Care was established in 1997 by its principle surgeons Dr Darcy Economos and Dr George Pietris. Both Dr Economos and Dr Pietris have been heavily involved in teaching eye surgery at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital for over 20 years and they bring this experience to all their patients at Wakefield Eye Care.
Patients are examined and assessed by their treating surgeons and are seen postoperatively for comprehensive follow up.
Wakefield Eye Care specialises in the provision of state of the art ophthalmic surgery specialising in advanced cataract surgery. All surgery is performed in the brand new fully equipped, latest technology theatre suite at Calvary Adelaide Hospital.

Dr Darcy Economos has served on the Board of Examiners for the Royal Australian and NZ College of Ophthalmologists (1998 - 2018) in the field of cataract surgery, and has trained over 30 ophthalmologists in cataract surgery at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (1997 - 2017).
